We actually didn’t plan to have this session at sunrise…
Generally, I book my sessions around “golden hour” aka that magical time of day before sunset when the light is “just right”. Well, the day of our session it decided to rain alllll day long, which of course can happen when planning a shoot outdoors. The issue was, Hannah and her family drove all the way from Tennessee for their family vacation and were driving back the next day so the pictures had to be done! What to do? Set 10 alarms to be up at 4:30 am, have coffee at the ready, and catch the sunrise!
I’m a big believer in “everything is meant to be”. In this case, Hannah looks like an actual angel in this all white outfit and perfectly puffy clouds in the backdrop. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect morning to shoot.
Behind the scenes…
While it was very sunny being the sky was so clear, I always have my Magnetmod modifiers or my Glow EZ-Lock 25” Beauty Dish at the ready and Godox lights to help conquer the sun. As originally planned, we worked with two different outfits and had a sunhat for a prop. I’m loving the contrast of Hannah’s red beach dress amongst the blue sky. I always recommend two outfit changes for any portrait session to have a more dynamic and diverse gallery. (If you aren’t sure what to wear for your session and want to consider a couture dress I also offer rentals from Bentley + Lace! )
